Celebrity groomer Amy Komorowski gives the lowdown on the actor’s Golden Globes locks.

At last night’s 83rd Golden Globes, Jacob Elordi continued his storm of unimpeachable red carpet fits. Armed with big dogs like Bottega Veneta and Cartier, he’s a master of pulling off insane looks without ever tipping into try-hard territory. But there’s more to it than suits and accessories, as no leading man’s look is complete without grooming. Like yesterday, where the Wuthering Heights actor dropped a mighty, medium-length trim that sat somewhere between 1970s soft rocker and 21st century internet boyfriend with access to the best groomers and products in the game.

It lands between a waved-out mini and ’70s shag; layered, cut close at the sides, wild and free at the neck with a subtle middle-parting fringe. And unlike the lawless, grown-out mullets guys were rocking in the 1970s, this is more refined. It’s “something that feels straight out of an iconic decade like the ’70s but styled for today. The waves are soft and lived-in, with a subtle sheen that gives the texture a modern polish without losing that rebellious spirit,” says celebrity groomer Amy Komorowski who was responsible for the actor’s steaming hot waves last night.

The grown-out fringe softens things up. It’s shaggy, wavy, and not so polished that it requires constant maintenance – the type of haircut that says you care, but without hourly bathroom touch-ups. “I’m leaning into the mood of the hair at this moment – the length, the looseness, the lived-in feel,” says Komorowski. “It’s all about the texture that feels perfectly undone.”

That kind of low-key hair style can be a secret weapon on the red carpet. Elordi was strapped into a black double-breasted Bottega Veneta suit. It’s super sharp and formal, so a touch of contrast from a free-spirited ’70s trim can go a long way. You’ve got an easy-going and relaxed vibe even when the dress code calls for anything but. “It’s how all the elements work together. Grooming, fashion, and styling have to move in sync. For me the goal is never to look “done”, but to look effortless. When grooming is done right, you don’t notice it, you just see confidence and ease,” says Komorowski.

Nailing this kind of comes down to consistency. “I approach every carpet the same. The goal is always longevity, attention to detail and ease. I want the look to last, to read beautifully on camera, and for the skin and hair to look impeccable up close, but never overdone,” says Komorowski. “The trick is that it has to feel almost like grooming was barely done at all. Skin should feel fresh and alive, hair should move, there should be an effortless quality to it.”

Even for us regular guys, there’s something we can take from all of this. Don’t deep it too much. Get a solid haircut that doesn’t require too much fuss like Jacob Elordi’s soft-rock mini mullet and let your hair do its thing.
